Time & Space in the Bible

This four-week course was designed to help the Bible student gain a basic understanding of the Times and Places mentioned in the Bible.  Each of the sessions are described below with links to the related handouts and PowerPoint slides.


  • All downloadable documents are in PDF format.
  • The Bible Geography, Old Testament Timeline, and New Testament Timeline are formatted to print on 8.5 x 14" paper.
  • Audio files of the last three sessions are also included and can be listened to from this page without requiring any downloads.
  • The time encoding on the audio files is invalid. The recordings are just 45 minutes in length.
  • Unfortunately, there was no audio recording made of Session One.

Session One

Bible Geography

Description:

In this first week we covered the basic geography, including the empires related to Israel, that are referenced in the Old and New Testament periods.

Session Two
Old Testament Timeline - Part One

Description:

In week two, we began looking at the Old Testament Timeline with a discussion of early history and a detailed coverage of the period of Israel's united and divided kingdoms.

Session Three
Old Testament Timeline - Part Two

Description:

Week three continued the review of the Old Testament Timeline including examples of how the timeline can illuminate truths about God found in the Old Testament.

Session Four
New Testament Timeline

Description:

Week four, the final week of the study, included a review of the New Testament Timeline, from the birth of Christ and the first 300 years of the church age.
